SKIN & HAIRCARE TIPS FOR HOLI

SKIN & HAIRCARE TIPS FOR HOLI.

Holi, the festival of colors is just around the corner. There is excitement, liveliness and cheerfulness all around us. This festival has been dampened in the past two years due to COVID. Let’s all rejoice this year with a splash of water and colors. Vibrant music and delicious food add to the festivities.

In all the shenanigans what takes a backseat is our skin and hair. All of us are aware that how harmful colors are for us. But that shouldn’t stop us from enjoying. Dr. Shilpi Bansal would like to share some tips and tricks for a safe holi.

Safety measures before Holi.

  • Apply a thick layer of any good occlusive moisturizer on your body, this will prevent colors from going into the deeper layers of skin.
  • Tanning is a problem encountered every day. A good water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF>30 and PA+3 or above should be applied after moisturizer. This will not only prevent tanning but also sunburn.
  • Apply coconut oil or olive oil to prevent to damage to your hair. Tighten your hair into a ponytail and then a bun. Wear a shower-cap to protect your hair.
  • Apply a thick coat of nail paint to keep colors from entering your cuticles.
  • Apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly or lip balm on your lips to keep them protected.
  • Play with organic colors as much as possible.

Safety measures after Holi.

  • Use a gentle bodywash or cleanser for bathing to remove colour. Do not scrub vigorously as it will damage your skin.
  • Use lukewarm or cold water for bathing and not hot water.
  • Rinse your hair with plenty of water to remove colours first. Then shampoo once or twice as required to remove colours.
  • Use a conditioner on your hair to smoothen the texture.
  • Apply a good moisturiser on your skin to restore skin health.
  • Apply a leave-on serum or oil on your hair. Do not blow dry them.

Drink ample amount of water to keep your skin, hair and body hydrated. Enjoy this festival of colours to the core by following the above tips.

Stay Safe, Stay Beautiful, Stay Healthy. Happy Holi!!!
