Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy – Blessing for Skin

Platelet Rich Plasma therapy (PRP) is widely in use for treatment in various medical fields like dentistry, dermatology, veterinary, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, etc. It has established usage and shows promising results in various procedures. PRP acts as supplementary healing factor in our body as it is targeted on specific parts requiring healing and regeneration. PRP has been now popularly been in use for hair and skin as aesthetics have become greatest concern for most individuals.

What is PRP?

Plasma Rich platelet, as the name suggests is plasma rich in platelets. Such plasma is derived from the patients’ body with minimum invasion. It involves extraction of blood which is then subjected to centrifugal force to separate such plasma and buffy portion of blood which contains high concentration of platelets.

How does it work?

  • On skin ( generally)

Platelets are healing cells of our body. Be it a minor wound or tissue rupture; the first cell to work and heal are platelets. Platelets contain various Growth Factors (GFs) [by count more than 20] which play different roles in in body regeneration by promoting collagen growth, angiogenesis, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, etc. These Growth factors are injected into face via PRP derived from your blood. This provides the nutrition and cell required directly into the area in need.

  • On Solar Elastosis

Solar Elastosis is a disorder involving thickening of skin, deeper creases, fine wrinkles, yellowish skin, etc. The disorder is common in the region below the eye. The most common treatment option used is hyaluronic acid injections, botulinum toxin injections (botox), etc. to reduce the visibility of wrinkles. But such treatments are expensive in comparison to PRP. PRP attracts Mesenchymal stem cells and fibroblast. It proliferates them in the injected area. This leads to improvement in quality of skin in the area.

Why do you need it?

Change is abhorred by most. They try to keep things same. Then why compromise when it comes to skin. It is largest organ on your body and is visible. Your skin health displays your overall health. In 21st century where looks and beauty define your self-confidence, self-esteem and how people judge you, keeping skin in its peak condition in important. Stress induced aging is common now even in youth. Ignoring skin health will worsen it, making you look older than you are. If you are conscious about your looks and have aging effects on your skin, then PRP is for you, you need it.

CORE Benefits

  • PRP rejuvenates the skin and restores its quality.
  • PRP involves minimal invasion in its procedure.
  • It increases collagen production and reduces inflammation.
  • Improves elasticity and reduces inflammation on skin.
  • Restores skin’s beauty and aesthetics.

How we treat at ELITE CLINIC

PRP is performed by various methods by different doctors. The main difference is in the process of extraction and concentration of platelets. We at ELITE clinic perform differentiation and concentration of platelet in plasma by double spin method. This method is used by us to give higher yield in results giving us minimum concentration of 12, 00,000 – 15, 00,000 platelet in the plasma injected in a patients’ affected portion.

Let us now overview the steps followed at ELITE clinic:

STEP 1: Extraction of blood from patients’ body.

STEP 2:  Blood subjected to centrifugation for 10 minutes which separates the RBCs and Platelet-rich plasma.

STEP 3: This supernatant plasma is subjected to centrifugal force again for 10 minutes which further concentrates the platelet count. The resulting Plasma contains at least 4 times the concentration of the platelet count than the blood extracted in Step 1.

STEP 4: Numbing cream is applied to the affected site to reduce discomfort or pain during the treatment.

STEP 5: Such plasma is then injected into the site on the body requiring expedition in healing, which in our case is affected skin area, to boost collagen production and rejuvenate the quality of the skin.

What have we learned?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is used in various medical fields for treatment of different disorders and to augment healing. Use of PRP in Cosmetic and Dermatology is popular due to lack of multiple alternatives and cost of other treatments. PRP is useful to maintain skin health and reverse effects of aging on skin. Keeping largest organ of body healthy and in its peak condition is important to maintain overall health and beauty. Since the injection contains plasma that is derived from your body, the side effects of the treatment are inconsiderable to the benefits.
